AMERLUX GRABS SPOTLIGHT IN NEW LED COMPETITION
2008 Next Generation Luminaires Competition Recognizes Cylindrix II LED & Evoke 2.9
FAIRFIELD, N.J., Feb, 27, 2009 – Two Amerlux Lighting Solutions architectural lighting products were recognized at the recent first annual Next Generation Luminaires Competition sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America, and the International Association of Lighting Designers.
Entries were submitted from across the lighting industry and judged by an esteemed and diverse panel of industry professionals from the private and public sector. All entries for the competition were evaluated based on their color appearance, rendering, appropriate illuminance, appropriate luminance, application efficiency, aesthetic appearance and style, and serviceability and replacement. Based on the aforementioned criteria, the Amerlux Cylindrix II LED and Evoke 2.9 were awarded recognition by the panel of judges.
We’re honored to accept this prestigious recognition of our products’ superior light quality, efficiency and aesthetic appeal,” said Chuck Campagna, president and CEO of Amerlux. “This competition will ultimately help educate the lighting market, specifiers and end users about the potential of LED technology, its proper use in luminaires, and how Amerlux is leading the way in this market segment.”
The Cylindrix II Vertical LED provides track-mounted accent and display lighting in a compact, architecturally appealing luminaire. It utilizes tightly binned high output, warm white LEDs (2585K to 2875K CCT) and produces more than 600 net lumens in a range of beam spread options.
The Evoke 2.9 LED features a field serviceable seven-diode cluster measuring just 1.25-inches in diameter that produces more than 900 lumens of light in a 60 degree beam spread with negligible heat and UV output. Available in round or square apertures, these tightly binned LEDs ensure excellent fixture-to-fixture consistency. A highly engineered heat sink draws, reduces and radiates damaging heat away from the LEDs for longer life and lower related maintenance.
The awards presentation was held on Feb. 19 at the Strategies in Light Conference in Santa Clara, Calif., and the winners will be recognized at LEDucation III on March 11 and Lightfair International from May 5 through 7, both in New York.
The Next Generation Luminaires competition is designed to recognize well-designed, energy-efficient, and attractive commercial solid state lighting that uses a fraction of the electricity of standard incandescent, halogen, and high intensity discharge fixtures.
